I’m enjoying reading “How to Begin” by Michael Bungay Stanier.
In it, he refers to the ‘Spouse-ish’ test as one way of getting illumination. How your partner/BFF/sibling responds to your declared goal can be a helpful guide. Not that their response shows the right way forward for you necessarily (they have their own agenda after all), but it gives you something to consider with curiosity.
I liken this to flipping heads/tails when I’m really not sure which way to go. I’m curious about my reaction when the penny lands – not really the result. Given some feedback, how do you feel about it? What does that tell you?
Don’t let external guides choose what’s important for you.
Do let them help shine a light on what is.
Kindly, get going.
