On not knowing enough

I’ve been reflecting on my career to find learning points, as I think about my next steps.

What stands out is that I often haven’t asked enough questions. I don’t feel I’ve understand the context, relationships, processes, and objectives as well as I could have done, to do the best work that I could have. In many cases things weren’t communicated well, but in taking responsibility for doing great work, it was on me to question, probe, and reach for clarity.

Don’t be afraid of looking inadequate. Prepare yourself well and compose the best questions you can – it’s to everyone’s benefit.

Kindly, keep asking.
