I love looking at maps and running in the out of the way places they give clues to. Sometimes though, I get bamboozled by the detail on the map. Thinking I won’t remember which way to go, I feel the temptation to stick to paths I know well, perhaps just the paths that are clearly marked.
If I spend time with the unfamiliar though, the paths I know grow in number. Surprise views appear over a hill I’ve never created before. A few deer bound through woods I wasn’t sure of the way through. Life is richer.
I don’t need to know the way in detail.
I don’t need to have memorised a route.
But I’ve gotta keep going when things aren’t clear. Life gets richer that way.
