My beloved and I were motoring along the M62 today and saw two uncommon cars in the same uncommon colour. A beautiful blue. The cars didn’t seem to be travelling together – it was just a happy coincidence.
I was thinking of how to describe the colour as we talked. Iridescent? Vivid? Jaunty? My beloved said it was like a kingfisher or peacock. Instantly that captured how to relate the colour to anyone who’d seen either of those!
One of the things I’m grateful for, is how she thinks very differently to me. It can be a source of tension as we rattle around the same thing using different words, but most often I’m struck by her intuitive, creative expression of ideas. Where I’m usually technical and explanatory, she’s illustrative and direct.
I’m pleased we’re built differently.
I learn a lot from her.
