Having agency isn’t all that helpful if one doesn’t exercise it. Hope in and of itself doesn’t change anything.
We must move. Take action.
Go boldly, if we can. Just get going, if we can’t.
The thought alone can be scary, but we must overcome. When we do, it might be scarier still to realise the power we have to change things!
I’m reminded of Dune and the Litany of Fear:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Dune, by Frank Herbert
We must face down the gom jabbar and move forward.
