All things in life are a trade-off, ultimately. Owning a home. Taking one job over another. Having a child. Pursuing a dream. Where to spend a holiday. Fitness or short-term comfort. And so on.
If you do this, you can’t or will be less able to do that. The inverse is also true.
This is okay. Part of growing up is learning to see and accept the consequences of choosing this over that and we all do that, to some extent. I wonder how much effort is consciously put into learning how to see what the consequences of this over that would be? It’s a management domain problem – decision making – is how society seems to treat this. Except it’s not.
How to be aware of the trade-offs is important every single day.
