Purpose can be very broad like ‘make a difference’, or very clearly defined ‘run a marathon’. The clearer the better is the usual refrain, which I broadly agree with. Right now, I could break my short and medium goals into more concrete steps than I have – perhaps I should – but it’s enough to know what I’m working towards.
For most of last year, having been thrown by a change in circumstances and expectations, I felt quite adrift. Having reconnected with a purpose, a different one, I’m feeling energised again and keen to overcome obstacles. This, ultimately, is what purpose does. Whether it’s a specific goal or broad aim, so long as you feel your effort is connected to your purpose you can endure.
Enjoy the journey. Appreciate progress. Purposefully engage.
